complex and delicate water jacket cores to be safely shaken out after casting. Te system is 100% inorganic and leaves no residual condensate deposits in the tooling, nor causes any smoke to form during the casting process. Te storage life of cores manufactured using inorganic


binders previously posed a challenge, especially on hot summer days with high humidity and a high ambient temperature. Now, the new binder INOTEC HS 3000 significantly improves the moisture stability of the inorganically bound cores (Figure 2). Tis in turn makes it possible to manufacture stable cores coated with a water-based coating, which also makes the INO- TEC binder system interesting for iron casting. Turkey Foundry Gains New Sand Preparation Equipment 土耳其铸造厂安装新型砂制备装备


Turkish foundry Ekdöksan recently installed a new molding line including EIRICH sand preparation equip- ment to expand its production capability. Production of high quality products at low, competitive prices was the main reason the family-managed company Büyük Eker Bijon decided to invest in the expansion program at the Ekdöksan foundry. Brake drums, brake discs, wheel hubs and flywheels for commercial vehicles are produced on the new line, which went into operation at the end of 2013. Tese products are supplied to the domestic and export markets. Preparation of the bentonite-bonded foundry sand has a major impact on production quality. EIRICH has been a technology leader in this application space for many years, which is why the customer chose EIRICH. Te EIRICH mixing system guarantees outstanding, reproducible mold- ing material quality. All of the constituents are perfectly homogenized, and the dosed water is completely and uni- formly distributed. Tese performance factors together with the intensive wet mixing phase ensure optimal bentonite activation and complete coating of the sand grains, resulting in the production of perfect castings. EIRICH delivered an R28-41 mixer to Ekdöksan. Te


machine has a batch capacity of 4,000 litres and a finished molding sand throughput rate of 104 cu.m/hour (approxi- mately 90 tons/hor). Te control system and a full set of dos- ing and weighing equipment with table feeder to discharge the prepared foundry sand was included in the delivery. A QualiMaster AT1 online testing unit, which auto-


matically extracts samples from each molding sand mixture to check the compactability and sheer strength, is embed- ded into the production inspection and control system. Te results are transmitted to the control system and used for automatic correction of additive and water feed. Tis guarantees high reproducibility of the specified molding material parameters.
