organizations, including the Standing Vice President of CFA Mr. Zhang Libo, the Executive Vice President and Secretary General Mr. Wen Ping, RAF’s President Mr. Ivan Dibrov and Vice President Andre Dibrov, Mr. Subodh Panchal and Vikas Garg, former President of IIF, SAIF’s CEO Mr. John Davies and Vice President Janley Kotze, as well as Mr. Liu Siong Song, the President of Hong Kong Foundry Association, Mr. Tomas Fritsch, CEO of Foundry-Planet, Mr. Zhu Jianxun, the Vice President of SQ Group, Mr. Ma Xiaowei, the Chair- man & CEO of Qingdao Huatong. China Foundry Association has been devoted to advanc- ing the BRCIS Foundry Association in recent years. As the first official meeting, the Forum focused on the influence of the healthy development of BRICS foundry industry on the global foundry industry, and discussed how to promote the cooperation among BRICS nations. Te representatives delivered keynote speeches on the development trend and situation, technology and prospect of each country’s foundry industry, providing information and suggestions for the fur- ther cooperation among BRICS. According to Andre Dibrov, Vice President, RAF, Russian

castings are largely produced by local companies instead of import in recent years. But it is expected that casting equip- ment will be still needed to be imported from Europe and the United States in the next few years. In addition, he also mentioned that the lack of casting engineers had become the challenges faced by all BRICS countries. Young generation is hard to be attracted to this industry due to that most found- ries can’t meet the standards of “green foundry”. When it comes to the present situation and development

trend of India’s foundry industry, Mr. Subodh Panchal stressed that the Indian government is pushing for “Made in India”. In this background, Indian foundries are increasingly focusing on lean manufacturing to improve productivity, added value and cost competitiveness. As environmental protection has become the main concern restricting the development of India, there will be a lot of cooperation opportunities to protect the envi- ronment and improve energy efficiency in the future. SAIF’s CEO John Davies pointed out South Africa fo-

cused more on exports compared with other countries, because a weak export would affect the whole GDP of a small market like South Africa. ■
