Mark Scott brings his skills as a developer and interior designer together to create the perfect romantic holiday cottage experience here in West Suffolk and North Essex

Five of the six cottages have open fires and we encourage people to linger in front of them and relax while they are with us. We are in the middle of the countryside and not far from Lavenham, so there are lots of footpaths and little lanes for cycling and a village pub not far away. The White Horse in Edwardstone has its own micro-brewery and they serve great food

ark Scott moved to Suffolk 18 years ago after viewing The Grove Farm in Edwardstone. As well as the main house there was a

farm worker's cottage and a jumble of derelict barns and he decided that it was exactly what he was looking for and made an offer to the owner on the spot. He embarked on a huge restoration project to create six romantic holiday cottages which would be full of character and perfectly located for visitors wanting a relaxing short break in a peaceful haven.

Over the years, Mark has developed his business into a boutique holiday cottage agency, handpicking suitable cottages which suit his brand and now manages a portfolio of 36 properties in Suffolk and North Essex.

In Don's Barn (above) Mark Scott has incorporated a mill wheel into the kitchen top and in all six cottages, the kitchen cupboards are built by hand by a real craftsman; an artisan builder who really

understands old buildings and was a joy to work with. I try to incorporate handmade items where possible; I found this great sofa for Don's Barn, it's really deep and comfortable and I had it covered in a Persian rug; the coffee table in front of it is from Bali and hand carved into a double headed crocodile; the wall lights are made from old roof tiles and even the guest comment books are handmade in a lovely, soft leather.
