Cavendish photographer brings gardens to life
Often a mix of the classical with the quirky, there is something special about the English country house garden. The norm might be beautifully manicured lawns, high hedges and perhaps a water feature - but there could also be a sundial, a pergola, a folly or a croquet lawn. Even the most peaceful of gardens take passion and hard work to create. The book The English Country House Garden takes a fresh look at the country house garden, starting with the owners and the stories behind the gardens. The spectacular images inside are by Cavendish-based Marcus Harpur who has been to 30 gardens - some

grand, some personal, some celebrated, some never- before-photographed. Marcus’s pictures are featured in magazines such as House and Garden and Country Life. He is frequently commissioned by garden designers to provide portfolio images of their work and is happy to provide the same service to owners of gardens, whether they are private or open. Photographed at the garden’s peak in the best light and atmosphere, a set of images presented as prints, digital files, or in book form, is a great way to capture the life, spirit and work it takes to create a garden.
