TRIME’S WIN-WIN GAP DEAL


During the Executive Hire Show, Trime UK and GAP gave details of their successful efforts to help Hewden customers following Hewden’s collapse, which we reported in our January/February issue. Following Hewden’s demise, many suppliers were financially


compromised over tools and equipment that were supplied to it on unsecured credit terms. GAP MD Iain Anderson became aware that Trime UK had supplied a fleet of lighting towers to Hewden and contacted Trime CEO, Ray Caulfield, to clarify the status of the equipment. He confirmed that payment for the goods had not been settled and the Administrators had indicated it was very unlikely that any payment would be made against these machines. Iain Anderson, with the co-operation of the Administrators, reached


an agreement for GAP to take over ownership of the 130 X-Eco lighting towers and to continue the hire contracts with end users at sites from the north of Scotland right down to Devon. Ray Caulfield, who is pictured, left, with Iain Anderson, centre, and GAP Financial Director Chris Parr, said, “I would like to thank Iain and GAP’s managers for their help in completing this deal in such a business-like manner. It is a three-way ‘win-win’ position. GAP has new clients with on-going hires, we have returned to a stable financial


position, and end users secured continued supply with minimum disruption.” Also at the


Show, Trime confirmed Dungannon-


based Glendun Plant Sales Ltd as its Northern Ireland distributor. Sales Director Dermot Cunnie said he visited the Show to seek out a manufacturer of lighting towers to add to Glendun’s product portfolio, and placed an initial order for 14 X-Eco lighting towers. In addition, Trime has appointed Mark Taylor as Sales Manager. He has previously held sales positions with Morris Site Machinery and Hewden. Other recently confirmed appointments include Norman Pipe as Operations Manager and Wayne Brennan as Technical Manager.


Spending spree for YHC


YHC Hire Solutions did a staggering amount of business over the two days of the Show. Seven of its team attended, including Directors


Andrew and Ashley Parker, and Jim Patch. “We went with an agenda to obtain special Show-only deals, and made a total investment approaching £900,000,” said Andrew, pictured third from left. “From Niftylift we bought four 120TPE and two N170TDET trailer-mounted booms, all to be delivered in our corporate purple livery. We also concluded a deal with partner CBL Plant Sales on the Thwaites stand for four 6-tonne standard tip, two 6-tonne swivel tip and six 9-tonne standard tip Thwaites dumpers, adding to 20 machines in these weight classes that we received in January. “Other business included an order with Boss Cabins for eight Comfort Space seven-man mobile welfare units and two Big Space 12-man models, and we also bought equipment from Altrad Belle, Husqvarna, Rothenberger, Red Band, SPE and Hire Supply Co.”


4 Hares Hire expands Trelawny fleet


Having added Trelawny TFP200 floor planers to its fleet last year, Hares Hire made contact with the manufacturer at the Show to order additional surface preparation machines. These included more TFP200s together with TFS230 floor strippers, TCG250 grinders and a long-reach pneumatic scraper.
