EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW

Ricoh review

EHN reports on some of the new products unveiled at this year’s Show, which attracted a record-breaking 190 exhibitors.

BPT lights up

Birchwood Price Tools (BPT) showed a new variant of its Defender DL4000 light that has been developed for users such as railway contractors. With an output of 4,000 lumens, it has LED lamps, operates from a 110V supply and can be fitted to a mast for trackside operation, extending to a height of 3m. The base can be filled with railway ballast for stability. It can also be used as a floor-standing contractors’ light or suspended from a ceiling.

Kohler-SDMO in control

Visitors to the Kohler-SDMO stand were able to view the manufacturer’s R110 C3 generator, a 110kVA Stage IIIa-compliant model that can now be fitted with a Deep Sea 7310 or 8610 controller. The latter offers power synchronisation capabilities. Motorised circuit breakers are incorporated, and the company says there is growing interest in synchronised sets from hirers who want to offer smaller sets with the ability to link them in order to meet larger power requirements.

Demon reported considerable interest in its new pressure washer variants with Honda LPG engines, from hirers who had read about them in our January/February issue Show Preview. As well as versions of its Hurricane Combi P2 cold water model and the Mini Bowser P2, the manufacturer was able to show a newly completed LPG version of the engine assembly for its Tornado P4 machine, for mounting on trailers. It offers the same 2,900psi performance at 15 litres per minute as its petrol counterpart. The company sees

great potential for the machines on sites where levels of emissions and noise have to be minimised, and adds that they are easier for hirers’ technicians to maintain, having no carburettor, starter motor or battery.

New products from Hilti included the BX 3 cordless nailer, which is powered by a 22V battery and is designed to drive 15-27mm nails into concrete or steel. The manufacturer also demonstrated its Hilti Connect app that enables a mobile phone to read data from a chip inside a tool. This gives information like date of purchase, owner details, usage and repair history, and the user can also place a service request.
