EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued

Andy Buckley, Fast Hire Once again the

Show proved to be well worth visiting. It provided me with an opportunity to meet many of our suppliers and talk to new ones all under one roof. I came away with some new ideas and products that can help add value to the hire fleet. It was also great to see hear how positive manufacturers and fellow hirers are for 2017.

Dave Matthews, Rapid Climate Control Since the

acquisitions of Fral UK and Rapid Climate Control by A-Plant last year, we have invested over £1m in electric and indirect fired heaters. The Show represented a great opportunity to catch up with all our heater suppliers in one day and under the same roof, to say thank you for all their help and support over the past months. It’s a great exhibition and always extremely enjoyable to visit.

Ian Davidson, right, and Mark Allerton, Fairfax Hire Centres We spent time with Makita and DART, as well as with DURO, discussing

a new order. We also placed an order with Freeze Master 690E electric pipe freezing kit, taking advantage of a special Show offer. Euro Towers received a major order from us just after the 2016 Show and we talked to them about additional tower to replace and supplement our existing stock. In addition we talked with Ian Brown and Andy Sabin of Thwaites, discussing our requirements for this year and we had a good look at Kubota’s KX027-4, for which we have already placed an order. We also arranged a demonstration with Safety Lifting Gear of their new Guil counterbalance materials lift, and we would like to thank SPS for the free footballs and Altrad Belle for the delicious hot chocolate and biscuits!

I always take time to attend the Show as it’s an ideal opportunity to do a bit of networking with suppliers and customers, and with old friends from the industry. We were able to view some innovative products, and it was very encouraging to see many different people placing orders, which is evidence of a buoyant industry.

Clive Potter, centre, with Mark One Hire colleagues

It was an excellent Show, well worth going to. The number of exhibitors was the largest ever and it was really good to see the latest products, as well as catching up with what is happening in our industry. The evening Party and Awards went very well but it was sad to see Robert (Aplin) depart.

” Phil Nickless, Phils Tool Hire

At this year’s Show I purchased two Husqvarna floor saws. I also visited the Stanley Handling stand and I thought their Stairclimber material handling machines were a great idea. I may consider purchasing one later this year. And I liked the look of the Maeda mini cranes that Kranlyft were displaying. As always, the Show was well-laid out and it was good to meet old and new friends in the industry.
