EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued
Dust management with Makita
Makita promoted several new additions to its portfolio for managing dust. These included the 447M, an M-Class dust extractor that has an automatic self-cleaning filtration system and a power
take-off facility. The VC2201M is another M-Class extraction unit, which has a capacity of 45 litres and can be used for processes involving mica, gypsum, wood dust and silica dust. The DVC2602 is a backpack vacuum cleaner that is powered by two 18V Lithium-ion batteries working in tandem. The dust bag has a capacity of two litres and the machine gives up to 90 minutes’ operation before re-charging is required. A more novel newcomer is the DRC200Z robotic vacuum, which can be left to clean a specific area randomly or following a pre-set pattern. It can also be operated via a remote control, and Makita says it is proving popular for cleaning tasks in awkward areas, such as underneath luggage carousels at airports.

Genquip unveiled the Groundhog GP300, a compact two-man mobile welfare unit with a canteen area, seating, heating, a chemical toilet and a roof-mounted skylight.
Also shown for the first time was the GPO500 Welfare Office Fusion, a twin-axle six-man mobile office derived from the ten-man GP500 welfare unit. Heating is provided by an on-board system, with the
generator only being required to provide power for the microwave, kettle and hot water. The floor fitted to the unit on display was made from a durable recyclable
plastic, an environmentally-friendly characteristic that will become standard on all mobile Groundhog units.

inspHire reported considerable interest in its Route Optimisation module, which can help hirers increase the efficiency of their transport fleet. Companies such as hirers of portable toilets can input details of all the equipment they have out on hire and how frequently they need to be serviced. The software will then automatically generate a schedule of visits, together with an appropriate route. inspHire also gave details about its upgraded customer web portal that is designed to obtain specific information for themselves around the clock.

Karcher pulls the trigger
Karcher gave demonstrations of its new EASY!Force trigger, which has been designed for easier operation. Visitors were able to experience how the recoil pressure from the water jet presses the device into the user’s hand, meaning less effort is required, particularly by inexperienced operators. Karcher’s Amanda Bacon, pictured, said that adapters are also available to enable the trigger to be retro-fitted to existing machines.
