Momentum is everything. If you thought Celebrating Show 10 set a new industry benchmark, the 2017 Executive Hire Show raised the bar again. In the Forum published ahead of the Show, we stated that we would further develop the exhibition to re-inforce its position as our industry’s unmissable event. After the success of last month’s Show, we have undoubtedly demonstrated our enduring ability to connect up and bring our industry together in a manner that no other organisation can match.


For the record, this year’s headline figures are that the Show attracted 1,813 relevant hire visitors, a record 86% of which represented independent companies, and our industry’s Top Ten national hirers all continue to support the Show in significant numbers. Following the addition of the Hire Show Hall this year, a record number of 190 Innovative Suppliers highlighted their latest products and services to Passionate Hirer visitors.


Amongst the myriad of positive exhibitor comments, Altrad Belle MD, Ray Neilson, marked the event “10/10. It was a fantastic Show with lots of independents and decision-makers from national hirers.”

Momentum is everything. If, however, you are organising an event that doesn’t have much traction, and is, seemingly, unable to gain momentum, you have a real problem. How might you start reversing that trend? You might wait until the founder of the leading event has almost left the building and announce your own re-branded event at the same venue.


We are not suggesting that this is a co-ordinated attempt to split our industry by passing off its event as the same, or similar to, the Executive Hire Show. However HAE’s recent announcement is certainly poor timing, and could confuse our industry.

To avoid any confusion, there is only one, national, unmissable industry-wide hire exhibition, hosted annually at the Ricoh Arena, and that is the Executive Hire Show, which will next be held on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 February 2018. Make sure you’re there!


Others responded, “the Executive Hire Show is our best event every year,” and “the highlight this year was visitors’ enthusiasm.”


Commencing on page 4, we caught up with some of these enthusiastic hirers as they made their way around the Show. One Award-winning independent was particularly pleased with its two-day adventure. “We went with an agenda to obtain special Show-only deals, and made a total investment approaching £900,000.” Typical of other hirers’ comments was, “walking into the Show was like visiting an old friend.”


Another informed comment was, “the Show has become an important event for us every year to keep in touch with suppliers and network with like-minded hirers. It is also a welcome, useful break from the day-to-day running of the business.” One hirer stated, “it is good to see so many exhibitors coming back year after year, which underlines the importance of the event.” Last, but not least, is the defining comment that “the Executive Hire Show is undoubtedly the premier event in the UK for our industry. It is the must-go-to event in our calendar.”
