Contractors’ Corn

The UK has recently been overwhelmed by the heatwave that has hit the country. With temperatures reaching as high as 3 6°C, the demand for air conditioning and cold room repairs soared according to refrigeration experts, Synecore.

The m&e contractor reported that e mergency call outs for broken or under-performing air conditioning u nits and walk-in chillers were up by 92% last week. The busiest day was Thursday, which followed the hottest day in June in over 40 years.

The demand was almost equally split between companies that have air conditioning installed and restaurant owners with walk-in chillers.

performing or broken air conditioning meant our engineers were in high demand. The root of the problem was mainly to do with under-maintained systems, or the fact that the air conditioning was turned on for the first time in a while and kept on for longer.

developed to ensure businesses have peace of mind that their system is fit-for-purpose all year round.

They all passed a stringent examination on the CIBSE Heat Networks: Code of Practice for the UK, jointly developed by CIBSE and the Association for Decentralised E nergy (ADE) as a major component in the nation’s future energy strategy. Associate design director David Cook, associate contracts director M att Coy, design manager Dave Bradbury, and senior design engineer Thomas Hollywood, proved to the assessors that JS Wright has the skills to meet the Code’s high standards for the design, installation and commissioning of district heating networks.
