BSI has worked with the Data Standards Expert Panel to produce a report of recommendations which includes a Data Standards Framework and mapping exercise to facilitate DSIT’s implementation of its National Data Strategy Mission 1 (see ‘About the National Data Strategy’, right) in its next phase of policy development. It is engaging with stakeholders to verify the draft findings and evaluate the feasibility of the recommendations. This evidence-based approach and preparatory work will lead to a strategic roadmap. “We want to work alongside industry and government as a key mover in unlocking the value of data,” says Joy. “We believe standards have a vital role to play in creating and supporting data-sharing opportunities by spurring on industry to develop new business models. About the National Data Strategy
The aim of the National Data Strategy (NDS) is to drive the collective vision that will support the UK to build a world-leading data economy. It will help ensure that people, businesses and organizations trust the data ecosystem, are sufficiently skilled to operate effectively within it, and can get access to data when they need it. The NDS will also provide

We plan to convene wider industry consultation on the key findings and recommendations and to agree the best way to take these forwards,” she said.
