Embedded Mitigation Parameter

Onshore Cable Route

The Onshore Cable Route will be installed underground to minimise impacts to ecological receptors and landscape and visual impacts.

No 24hr lighting except at HDD and Construction Consolidation Sites (CCSs), or where night time road closures/working is required.

Use of detailed aerial imagery to guide routing of the cable to avoid large areas of woodland.

Careful routeing of the Onshore Cable Route to avoid key areas of sensitivity (e.g. near Howes Farm, meadows near Martlesham Hall, Fynn Valley)

Careful routeing of the cable to minimise distance within AONB.

Routeing of the cable route to avoid areas of woodland, and key features highlighted within the Suffolk landscape including trees, mature hedge trees and orchards.

11 Construction

HDD used for the River Deben crossing, Kirton Creek, Martlesham Creek, railway crossing at Kingston, A12 crossing north of Martlesham, River Gipping crossing, railway crossing east of Little Blakenham and the A14 crossing at Little Blakenham, and at Little Bealings.

Careful routing of the Onshore Cable Route has minimised impacts on designated sites through avoidance where possible.

HDD under woodland near Bramford substation. HDD used for Kirton Creek and River Gipping crossing.

Careful routing of the Onshore Cable Route to avoid large areas of woodland. A reduced working width of 35m is proposed at all hedgerows where possible.

Reinstatement of Onshore Cable Route, CCS‟s and all temporary work areas/access roads.

Habitat removal would, where practicable, be restricted to the minimum working width of 35m at watercourse crossings.
