The above ports could potentially be used for construction or operation and maintenance for the proposed project. Though no decision will be made on this by the point of submission of the final ES for the proposed East Anglia THREE project, these drive time catchments will form the basis of, and provide context to, an impact assessment of the proposed East Anglia THREE project.

The socio-economic profile sets a context for the assessment and highlights key economic issues. The indicators are also used to determine the overall sensitivity of each area’s labour market (socio-economic receptor).

The principal onshore construction socio-economic study area is the 45-minute drive time catchment around Woodbridge.
For offshore construction, the principal socio-economic (regional) study area is the 90-minute drive time catchment around each of the above stated ports. This will be utilised to undertake the socio-economic impact assessment for the final ES for the proposed East Anglia THREE project.

Appendix 28.1 provides full socio-economic profile data for each study area and additional sub-study areas, which provide further context for the impact assessment and may also be used to identify potential capacity constraints:
‘Local area’ defined within a 30-minute drive time; and ‘Wider area’ defined within a 45-minute drive time.

For offshore construction, the following additional drive time catchments have been identified. It was not considered appropriate to create these for the onshore construction elements due to the scale of construction involved.
