EXCELLENT ARTICLE – unfortunately there are not many companies that are knowledgeable about this subject. As buyers are still in charge of negotiating business travel budgets this element is easily forgotten or submerged as a ‘nice to have’. I truly believe in paying
attention to the ‘Full Monty’ (health, safety, security and environment aspect) for business travellers. This does not always mean overspend of travel budgets but more a select and focus. I’ve had, in my career, too many examples where a quick (low-cost) fit turned into a personal, as well as, a company tragedy. (via BBT website)

THE END FOR END OF MONTH EXPENSES YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES. It’s the last day of the month and you get the email from finance: submit your expenses today to be included in the next month’s end-of-month payroll.
You break out into a cold sweat, staring at the pile of receipts on your desk and knowing what the next two hours of your life will be like. You also feel somewhat pained knowing that the money you spent for your company will take a month to be reimbursed. In an age when you can
order something online and have it delivered same-day, a four-plus-week lag on expense reimbursement seems awfully archaic. Not only is it a huge pain, but it’s also very unnecessary.

UNBUNDLING WORKS FOR ME I DON’T HAVE TO PAY for the extras so I am happy to have them unbundled [Mystery Buyer: Unbundled air fares]. The same applies for a lot of business travellers. This could end up costing my company a lot more if it were rebundled.
OR YOU COULD... encourage your airlines and value chain partners to distribute ancillaries through existing managed channels so that you’re travellers aren’t having to buy out of the booking process.
