Gambling in the Philippines is big business. Gambling revenues here are expected to top $5.6bn by 2018 and although much comes from the country’s established casino sector the sports betting market contributes significantly. Gambling in the Philippines is pretty much


divided into two separate regions – first there is the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), the 100 percent state owned company which operates and licences all land based gambling venues such as bingo, betting shops, poker clubs and casinos and secondly there is the Cagayan Freeport Economic Zone which is the only area not under PAGCOR control and offers casinos and acts as an online gambling jurisdiction. Jockey Club, the Philippine Racing Club and Metro Manila Turf Club. Manila Jockey Club runs racing at San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona and has 250 off track betting stations. Philippine Racing Club runs racing at Santa Ana Park in Makati City and offers OTB betting. Metro Manila Turf opened in 2013 in Malvar also with OTB betting. and Jai-alai. Te Games and Amusement Board governs professional sports and games such as boxing, basketball, jai-alai, billiards, golf and horse racing. Jai-alai betting is illegal but can take place in Cagayan Freeport area. PAGCOR controls betting in the rest of the


country and they have licensed MegaSportsWorld (MSW) to offer betting on a range of sports via PAGCOR’s own slot parlours and casino and internet parlours. MegaSportsWorld has the monopoly on land


based sports betting although they don’t have an online platform. Tey have 280 outlets across the country. Tey offer self service monitors in the big
