CLEANING SHOW REVIEW IT’S ALL

FUN AND GAMES

Alongside the serious matter of conducting business and getting sales leads, there was plenty of room for a bit of entertainment at this year’s Cleaning Show, with more stands than ever offering a little extra something to draw passing traffic in to their stands. What’s more, most companies offering these fun mini-games even managed to incorporate their own product lines into proceedings too, offering a fun alternative way to get ‘hands on’ with their wares, with the added bonus of winning some prizes too!

One of the big hits in this respect was undoubtedly Greyland’s ‘Hook a Dook’ competition (they’re from Manchester, that’s how they say it up here). Taking a twist on the traditional fairground game, Greyland offered visitors the chance to win a bottle of toilet cleaner if they hooked a winning duck, while everyone that took part got to take home a Greyland ‘dook’ of their own.

Someone else who put their own mark on a traditional fairground attraction was P-Wave, who brought a bit of fun to their stand with a ‘Toss the P-Wave’ mini-game, where guests could toss a P-Wave disk into a urinal, which actually proved to be a lot harder than it sounds (at least, that’s my excuse for not being very good at it!).

Elsewhere, for the thrill-seeking speed merchants in attendance, guests could take one of Kärcher’s ride-on floor cleaning machines for a spin around its ‘Race 2 Clean’ track. With the special prize of a HD pressure washer up for grabs for the fastest driver, naturally the TC team had a go. However, while my ‘respectable mid- table’ time of 12.56 seconds wasn’t enough to challenge for top spot, it was still faster than our Sales Director, so I claimed the prize of bragging rights here at TCHQ.

Speaking of prizes, over at the Suzanne Howe Communications stand, visitors could enter into a prize draw to win an Amazon Echo Dot by taking part in a putting challenge.

And while golf may not necessarily be my forte, your humble editor only went and scored a hole-in-one (after a practice shot), taking home the Echo in the process! So who knows, maybe I missed my calling as a golfer!

All of these little mini-games and activities served as a pleasant reminder that, while the main purpose of events like this is to make sales and network with clients and customers, there’s always room for some fun and games too.
