Best Risk Modelling Services Provider WINNER: AIR Worldwide
AIR Worldwide won the category this year, having come second in 2014. It recorded a score of 6.49, just ahead of last year’s winner RMS, which had a score of 6.46. In third place was EQECAT with 6.16, followed by GC Analytics on 5.73, unchanged in the rankings when compared with 2014.
However, further down there was more movement. This year Karen Clark & Co took fifth place with 5.66, beating Impact Forecasting on 5.54. In 2014 these positions were reversed, with Impact Forecasting coming fifth with 5.95, followed by Karen Clark on 5.80. Oasis came seventh with a score of 5.33.
AIR Worldwide is based in Boston, Massachusetts, with additional offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. The company was
closely involved in the launch of the catastrophe modelling industry in 1987 and today models the risk from natural catastrophes and terrorism in more than 90 countries.
The company has released a series of new and updated models in 2015, including ones for earthquakes in South America and
hurricanes in the US. It also released new winter storm and tropical cyclone models for the Canadian market. RMS was founded a year after AIR Worldwide, in 1988, and claims to be the world’s largest catastrophe modelling company, with
a global suite of catastrophe models. It too has had a busy year so far in 2015, with the release of new or updated models or studies on US hurricanes, US earthquakes, European windstorms and global tsunami risks.
