Make a Smile Recycle Heroes Need Your Help

Dennis and Barbara accept any household items, furniture, electrical and clothes etc for the recycle projects.

They are happy to do total house clearances. The items are given a bit of TLC and sold in rastros and auctions to provide funds for the Emaús homes’ daily needs. They can be contacted on 660 961 585 or 96 583 6814.

The Make A Smile Greenhouse Project Self Sufficiency Programme

The project combines a team of volunteers planting, harvesting and cultivating the land to produce farm fresh vegetables and fresh pressed Olive Oil at the EMAUS home for mentally challenged youngsters.

Chickens lay 800 eggs a week and along with the veggie bags bought by the general public, this helps to generate much needed funds to provide the essentials for them to survive. Help us to help them by volunteering on the farm or buying your vegetables from us each week!

Jávea U3A Travellers’ Tales How would you feel if you had to climb the equivalent of three Montgos in a day … on a bike? Well that's what Jávea U3A member Peter Atkinson did when his planned cycle ride start was delayed after his bag went missing and he was hit by a reversing car and ended up being treated in hospital and interviewed by the French police! Not a great start to Peter's

cycle ride from Seville via Salamanca to San Sebastian – hence the title of his talk to the Jávea U3A Travellers' Tales Group, “A Traveller's Tale of Woe and Joy: Across France on a Bicycle … and Three Cities Beginning with S”. However, nothing deters this cycling dynamo: his beautifully illustrated presentation, enhanced by some brilliant photography, thrilled the audience at the Casa de Cultura and confirmed that persistent Peter did indeed complete and thoroughly enjoy his intended challenge. Peter, who is also the U3A's History Group leader, received a warm round of applause from his audience and a special vote of thanks from Travellers' Tales group leaders Angela Chantry and Tony Dearie. For details of further Travellers’ Talks and other U3A activities, visit the website www.u3ajavea.org.
