S4RB helps British suppliers connect
Solutions for Retail Brands (S4RB) is helping to bring local and regional suppliers closer to Waitrose customers. The private brand grocery
retail specialist has increased supplier engagement by adding a new service to its supplier communications platform – Waitrose Engage. The service is designed to support suppliers in providing product descriptions, displayed in store. Suppliers are able to select the
region specific to them and draft a short explanation of their product. Once approved, a shelf edge ticket is created which informs shoppers about the product. Nottingham-based S4RB,
founded in 2006, creates and manages innovative software solutions to improve engagement and relationships between retailers, their own brand suppliers and their customers.

Brexit boost leads to busy year for A1 Flue Systems
A1 Flue Systems is enjoying what it’s calling a ‘Brexit boost’ after seeing a £1m in turnover as well as creating five new jobs in the second half of 2016. The award-winning Ollerton-based company –
which is the UK market leader in the design, manufacture and installation of commercial and industrial chimneys – is putting the increase down to a raft of contract wins and the drop in the value of the pound since the UK voted to leave the European Union last June. Contract wins include projects
for an airport, a football stadium and two university campus buildings as well as a host of offices, hotels and supermarkets across the UK. The figure doesn’t include an export deal that A1
recently secured for a skyscraper project in downtown Dubai close to the site of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Because the company manufactures everything
from its factory in Nottinghamshire, it has not been hit by the same 20% overnight price hikes that its UK competitors have faced, which import the lion’s share of their flues from Europe. Director TJ Duncan-Moir said: “Our
business is benefiting from a Brexit boost, and the past six months has arguably been the best period in our 40-year history.
“The drop in the value of the pound has been one
factor, but we also know that UK contractors and construction companies are telling us that we are seen as a safe pair of hands in the current climate.” The company is predicting the trend to continue in
2017, boosted by its export drive and an increase in offering added-value services, such as the maintenance of commercial flue and chimney systems.
