Quartet of promotions at Grant Thornton
Financial and business advisers Grant Thornton has promoted four high flyers at its Leicester office. Mitesh Thakrar is promoted to
Manager in the Audit team after just ten months with the firm, while Dan Millichip, who joined Grant Thornton’s trainee programme in 2011, is promoted to Assistant Manager in the Tax team. Divya Majithia is promoted to
Assistant Manager in the Pensions Assurance Centre and Larissa Popowicz to Assistant Manager in the Meeting Origination team.
Big plans at Knights
A town planner with more than 29 years’ experience has joined growing Derby-based professional services business, Knights. Nigel Harris joins Knights as
Partner, taking the business’ current town planning team to 17, as part of Knights’ plans to grow its non-legal offering. Having worked in both local
authority and private settings, managing projects of up to £250m, Nigel has amassed experience across a range of projects from housing schemes to large multi-use complexes.
Jane aids expansion at Andrew and Ashwell
Leicestershire-based commercial property specialist Andrew and Ashwell is expanding again with the appointment of Jane Taylor. Jane, who
has been a prime mover on the local commercial property scene for nearly 25 years, joins as a consultant. One of few women involved in
the agency side of the business, she brings with her an impressive portfolio of loyal clients, reflected in the accolade of being featured in The Leicester Mercury’s Most Influential People in Leicestershire list in 2016.

BDO invests in East Midlands senior team
BDO has strengthened its assurance team in the East Midlands to support its continued growth in this region. Andrew Mair and Kyla Bellingall (Audit Partners) and
Jon Lanes (Senior Manager) will provide senior level experience in audit, not-for-profit assurance and risk assurance services as part of the building of the BDO teams in Nottingham and Leicester. Andrew, who lives in the East Midlands, has over 25
years’ experience providing audit and advisory services to a wide range of private and public companies. He leads the Midland teams in the private equity and the real estate and construction sectors. Kyla, who lives in Nottingham, specialises in not-for-
profit organisations, working with a wide range of businesses in the education, charity and housing sectors. Jon is a Senior Manager in the firm’s Risk and
Advisory Services practice with more than ten years’ experience of providing risk management advice,
governance training and internal audit expertise. Jon predominantly works with large listed businesses within the retail, manufacturing, real estate and pharmaceutical sectors. He also has experience of working with not-for-profit organisations within the social housing, education and charity sectors. Richard Rose, Head of BDO in the Midlands, said:

Lloyd joins Fraser Brown team
Fraser Brown Solicitors has bolstered its dispute resolution team with the appointment of Lloyd Smith, who has joined the firm as a senior associate. In his new position, Lloyd will be supporting the existing work of the team on commercial and shareholder disputes and will be working to expand the dispute resolution team further. Lloyd joins Fraser Brown’s
Nottingham office from London practice Teacher Stern. A specialist in commercial
litigation, Lloyd has developed significant expertise in complex cases, including those where the issues traverse several jurisdictions. Lloyd, who trained at a boutique
litigation firm in the City of London, advises on all aspects of commercial disputes including fraud and disputes arising out of corporate transactions and commercial contract claims.
He said: “Fraser Brown is a well-
