CHAMBER NEWS Chamber names relegated to history

Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce are being relegated to the annals of history. At an extraordinary general

meeting in February, a quorum of members agreed to change the registered name of the regional Chambers of Commerce for the three counties to the single formal name of East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire). But it won’t make any difference

to how the organisation is seen by the outside world. Since shortly after the merger between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce and Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce in December 2013, the Chamber has traded under the East Midlands Chamber branding. Scott Knowles, Chief Executive at

the Chamber, said: “This is a paper exercise but one that formalises our registered name at Companies House as that under which we’ve been trading for the past few years. It’s a positive move but one that won’t change how we’re seen by the outside world as we’ll continue to be East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire,

Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire). But the formal name change will simplify the Chamber group structure, our internal processes and mean that we

have the one name that unites everything we do across the three counties we represent. With the recent move of our office from

Commerce Centre, Canal Wharf, Chesterfield, to Commerce House, Millennium Way, Dunston Road, Chesterfield, and the need to register that change, it seemed sensible to ratify the corporate name now so that it could be registered at the same time.”
