PwC welcomes Midlands financial services leader
PwC has appointed Carl Sizer as leader of its financial services (FS) practice in the Midlands as part of the firm’s ongoing investment in its regional FS presence. Now based at the firm’s Birmingham office, Carl moves to the region from PwC in London where he was partner for almost seven years within the firm’s banking and capital markets segment. He has been at PwC for over 17
years, providing audit and advisory services to a number of international and domestic financial institutions as well as spending two years in its New York practice working with a global investment bank. In his new Midlands role, Carl
will head up a team of around 100 FS specialists based across PwC’s Birmingham, Castle Donington and Milton Keynes offices. Carl said: “This is an exciting
time to join our Midlands FS practice and to lead the business.

Gateley Plc appoints first commercial litigation lawyer
National law firm Gateley Plc has appointed Amy Hope-Smith as a commercial litigation lawyer within the commercial dispute resolution team in Nottingham. Amy, previously a partner at law
firm Ashton Bond Gigg, in Nottingham, specialises in commercial and property disputes, including contractual disputes, director and shareholder disputes, complex debt actions, dilapidations claims, 1954 Act process and breach of lease in both residential and commercial circumstances. She has acted for both corporate
