A selection of winners from the 2016 Chamber Business Awards in Derbyshire

Chamber launches 2017 Business Awards

The annual quest to find the crème de la crème of regional business has been launched. The Chamber, headline sponsor

at last month’s Love Business Expo, used the event at Donington Park to launch its 2017 search for the region’s best businesses. Only the Chamber’s awards

offer winners a chance to compete in regional and national heats of the British Chambers of Commerce Awards. The Chamber’s Business Awards,

headline sponsored by Mazars, are ultimately a recognition of businesses across the region which have pioneered new concepts and innovation, excelled in commercial enterprise or distinguished themselves with their attitude to workforce development. In 2016, six Chamber members,

each winners in the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards and regional winners of BCC Awards, were shortlisted for national

accolades: Trent Academies Group for Education and Business Partnership, Hayles Leicester for Commitment to People, Cathelco for Export Business of the Year, Purpose Media for High Growth Business of the Year, Shakespeare Martineau for Excellence in Customer Service and Penny Hydraulics for Best Use of Technology. Penny Hydraulics and HUUB

Design (shared), Stoneseed and Cressall Resistors were awarded the prestigious Business of the Year Award in 2016 for Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire respectively. Scott Knowles, the Chamber’s

Chief Executive, said: “This was the sixth year that the Chamber has been involved with Love Business, and the third year that it was the headline sponsor. “Being at the heart of a major

business networking event, amid hundreds of exhibitors and

thousands of delegates, seemed to be the perfect place to launch our Business Awards for 2017. “You can’t overestimate the

value of events like Love Business for their networking potential and for keeping abreast of latest innovations. And you can’t overestimate the potential for growth that comes from taking part in the region’s biggest business awards programme.” The closing date for this year’s

awards entries is 19 May. Separate awards competitions will be held in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, with the awards presented at a gala dinner in each county in the autumn. There are 12 categories to

choose from and one business in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire will be selected as a business of the year winner.
