The warm welcome is no less than the sort of Croeso we expect from a proper ‘Great Little Place’, but the addition of eleven newly refurbished and very smart bedrooms helps the Saracens Head stand out from the crowd. Children, muddy boots and dogs are all welcome here. Which is just as well, given the ‘position A’ location of the Saracens Head; it’s right in the heart of popular and bustling Beddgelert, overlooking the sparkling River Colwyn and is an ideal staging post for exploring the stunning walking country of the Snowdonia National Park. You’ll sleep well here. The first floor rooms are all named after local landmarks and those on the second floor carry the titles of Welsh myths and legends. The attention to detail is palpable, the bespoke furniture is luxurious, the bed linen is of the highest quality, with soft furnishings from Melin Tregwynt and
modern luxury bathrooms. They even accept four legged guests in the superior rooms. This is a genuine Country Inn with high quality rooms. The open and relaxed atmosphere, easy comfort and warmth of a real fire wrap around you as you enter the traditional bar. There’s beautifully aged wood panelling, sturdy tables and well-kept Welsh cask ales. We defy anyone not to be tempted to order a refreshing pint of the Faithful Gelert, a local brew exclusive to the Saracens Head named after the eponymous hound of medieval welsh Prince, Llewellyn the Great that made the village famous. After working up an appetite in the clean and fresh mountain air, perhaps try their impeccably sourced local bar food. On the daily changing specials board expect to see welsh cheeses, mountain lamb and the freshest of seafood.
