Page 17 How important is getting older?
I know that growing older really bothers some people and causes stress….not only the ladies, but the men too!! Why do we attach so much importance to the existence of NUMBERS in our lives.….after all that is what growing older and our age is,… just a number!
If we really like ourselves for WHO we are, instead of what we look like, in our minds we need never age, never grow old, never stress about how others see us, and we can be content with the personality we have achieved in our lives, and the successes we have enjoyed, and all the failures we have learnt from!
Knowing ourselves as we truly are is the doorway to freedom and to the understanding that we are at a period of time that many people have never achieved…..have you thought about getting older that way? Some people have ended their entire lifetime long before they reached your age!…. another reason why we have so much to be thankful for. That should make us feel better!
Very sadly these days we are conditioned to believe that youth has EVERYTHING….the energy and the appearance, …
..two things youth doesn’t have are EXPERIENCE and WISDOM. I personally would not want to go back in time because I learn something new every day. …in fact, apart from aches and pains, I love growing older!
Some people are very attractive, with great personalities and have everything going for them, but they can be seriously depressed because they are getting older and feel that life is drifting away from them. I feel that “Carpe Diem” should be our motto…..”Seize the day”, and if we have life and breath as we get older, many of us are now able to concentrate on doing the things we couldn’t do when we were younger….with some more wisdom too!
The way we THINK is the most important tool in this matter, as in every other. We ARE what we THINK….remember that! Put it to the test! Think differently!
Take care, until the next time! Violet King….Personal Confidential Counsellor
