King of Prussia, PA – The marketing campaigns generat- ed by the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board in

2016 have been recognized by Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals and PR News, a result of eight wins in two months.

The board’s shopping brand, Destination Shop Montco, was a double-winner for both marketing and branding. Destination Shop Montco is the springboard for the six

major malls and dozen small-town main streets that the tourism board promotes. The messaging is designed to spark both economic impact for retailers and overnight hotel stays.

The big winner was Montco’s Best Pizza Tournament.

“Montco’s Best Pizza Tournament was kind of an acci- dent,” said Creative and Social Media Manager Joe Tacynec. “We had published an online guide to the best

pizza in our county but many of our followers were disap- pointed not to see their neighborhood shop listed. A spir- ited debate broke out. But rather than running from it, we embraced it,” he said.

Vice President of Marketing and Communications Edward Harris commented, “The pizza tournament represented

everything my team does well: It was fresh, energetic and unexpected; it was innovative; it took a potential negative and turned it into a positive. It also engaged the rest of the staff as well. We were using its results to cultivate

new members, build new connections for co-op partner- ships and support the mom-and-pop shops that are vital to our local communities,” said Harris. valleyforge.org

Marrakesh Comes to PA Pocono Manor, PA - Marrakesh Marketplace recently opened at the Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in the Pocono Mountains. Bazaar style shopping, unique gifts, authentic-African items, food and beverage and everyday needs, the Marrakesh Marketplace is modeled after the African marketplace, which the owners - the Nelson family - experience first-hand during their many trips to Africa. Its design acts as a bridge between these concepts and serves as a place where Moroccan tradition encounters modernity. kalaharimeetings.com
