Boyd's Cardinal Hollow Winery
"We offer a wine education class that entails a 45-minute PowerPoint presentation on everything from how grapes are grown, how wine is made, how to taste wine, wine etiquette and more," notes Christopher Boyd, owner and wine maker for Boyd's Cardinal Hollow Winery in Montgomery County, PA. "During the presentation, attendees get a glass of wine in our custom labeled souvenir wine glass with cheese and crackers to snack on. Afterward, all 30 of our wines are open for sampling and avail- able for sale."
Boyd's Cardinal Hollow special- izes in producing unique, award- winning wines such as Jalapeno Wine and Whiskey Mead, among others.

"All of the wineries are open for tast- ings, though hours vary by winery,” says Flemer. “Most of the wineries on our trail are smaller, boutique opera- tions, but most still offer some oppor- tunities for tour groups in varying sizes. Many have space designed for hosting private events, such as meet- ings, weddings, parties and other func- tions."
Tour groups to the area often will visit one or two historic sites followed by a wine tasting at a nearby winery. “Our trail wineries are more than happy to helpwith suggestions about their local area and helping to organize a visit," Flemer continues. "In addition to the wine trail, we recommend exploring many of the other things that make our area special - its history, natural beauty and local seafood.”
Many of the Chesapeake Wine Trail wineries also are part of the Virginia Oyster Trail and the Northern Neck Artisan Trail. Each offers additional opportunities to explore the area.
"Because our wineries are spread out across a rather large area, it often makes sense to plan a trip around a grouping of wineries and the opportu- nities nearby,” adds Flemer.
