FF Serving the community since 1993 Indian Food - there’s nothing quite like it.
All those tastes and spices, it’s just wonderful. And to find a really good Indian Restaurant where you’ll want to go back time and time again. Well, I may have just found it!
Sarita’s Indian Restaurant is a cut above the rest in quality and service - though not in price. It’s located in Albir about 100m from the beach. I went there recently with my critic’s hat on, though I have to admit, it’s been a favourite of mine for years. So I took a friend who’d not been there and this is what we found.
Upon arrival we were shown to the table and after ordering drinks (Indian beer of course) were presented with what must be the best looking menu for miles. Immediately the staff were friendly and with attention to detail already shining through, you know you’re off to a good start. Drinks came with poppadoms and accoutrements - delicious!
We went for the mixed starter, onion bhaji, chicken tikka etc. Straight away you could tell the chefs were authentic - beautifully spiced but not too hot. The samosas are a particular favourite of mine! For the main course, I have to admit to being a Biriyani fan. The Chicken Tikka Biriyani never fails, and the accompanying vegetable curry is spiced to my liking. We also had Lamb Rogan Josh with some plain rice. Honestly, the servings are generous and we were full only half way through, but with food this good you have to carry on! I think the Peshwari and cheese Nans might have had something to do with it.
We finished with banoffee pie - yes, yes, it’s not Indian but who cares, it was wonderful.
The restaurarant itself is beautiful, light airy and fresh. We ate inside but in summer there’s a big terrace that’s always full - which is a testament to the quality. Sarita’s have a high end TripAdvisor rating and it's deserved. When you think about it, a restaurant is more than great food, it's the service and the ambience… and Sarita’s doesn’t disappoint.
I mentioned I’ve been going there for years, and you do see familiar faces, customers who keep going back. Always a good sign. I asked about Christmas and to my surprise, they’re only closed on Christmas Day and Lunchtime New Year’s day. So it’s ideal for a work’s do. In fact they have a really nice octagonal table for large parties - they think of everything. They even do takeaway!
You can find Sarita’s at Bahia Blanca, Avda. del Albir 11, El Albir, telephone 96 686 4394.
