Exciting New Arts Presentations
If you love Art of all kinds, a fabulous new opportunity is coming your way in the New Year. World-class experts from the National Gallery, the Antiques Roadshow, Tate Britain, the British Museum, the Royal Academy and other prestigious institutions will be flying out to the Marina Alta area to give wonderful illustrated presentations on all aspects of decorative and Fine Arts.
The new organisation running this is called MAFAS, the Marina Alta Fine Arts Society, which is our new local branch of the highly successful National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies, (NADFAS). NADFAS already has 4 branches in Spain, 325 branches in the UK, and more in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
What it offers to members is 8 monthly illustrated presentations at the Parador in Jávea, starting on 19th January 2017, on a wide variety of topics ranging from The Silk Road to Art Deco, Fakes and Forgeries to artistic feuds, Highlights of Spanish painting to Gaudi and Barcelona, Belle Epoque Paris to Hockney by his biographer.
For an annual membership fee of only 50€ you can attend all these fabulous presentations, and you will also receive four magazines per year with reviews of exhibitions, offers of courses and cultural world trips organised by the Association: Italy, China, India...

A sample of what is on offer at the U3A Calpe
Fishing. That’s a big one! Is that the largest fish caught by one of our group? They generally go once a week, but that is flexible, as is the day they go.
Cycling. A group photo. Dates and times vary. Also number of participants can be as few as two, up to many, usually depending on the time of year.
Table Tennis. A photo of just a few of the table tennis group. This group typically has 40 attendees, and nine new tables, so not much opportunity to sit out! Also coffee and breakfast in the bar upstairs are
