A Destination for Small Meetings: Poplar Springs Inn and Spa

Room, which can host private lunches, dinners and meetings for around 40 attendees; a bridal suite/groomsman lounge; and the Sun Porch for groups of around 20 people. Though enclosed, the Sun Porch does feature two glass walls along with two flagstone walls, allowing plenty of natural light to fill the space.

In warmer months, those who would like to meet or hold a func- tion outdoors can enjoy the use of the flagstone patio from March through October, as well as other areas of the surrounding grounds.

As the property’s most popular meeting space, however, the Carriage House is completely private and self-contained, serving as an excellent space for groups who desire both privacy and security.

Poplar Springs Inn and Spa is a premier destination for small group meetings and events in the northern Virginia town of Warrenton.

Nestled on 170-acres of scenic countryside, the property is home to 22 guest rooms and offers a full-service spa that includes a saltwater swimming pool and a hot tub, along with fine dining at its on-site Manor House restaurant. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily, for Sunday Brunch, and also for hosting private events.

The inn boasts a number of attractive features like multiple fire pits, and sporting activities such as croquet, bocce, cornhole, a mile-long trail, and a half-basketball court. Guests also have com- plimentary access to Old Town Athletic Club in downtown Warrenton (a pass is required from the front desk). Two working fireplaces are located within the inn itself, there are two more in the Manor House restaurant, and another in the property’s Casanova Lounge.

Because of the property’s size, director of sales and marketing for the Poplar Inn and Spa, Ellen Christie, notes that “a lot of meeting groups here can literally take over the entire property. This pro- vides a truly exclusive experience for them in our intimate environ- ment.”

The property’s original Carriage House is the prime meeting venue on site, but additional rooms are available within the Manor House, as well. “The Carriage House can host 50 people for a sit- down dinner, or somewhat larger groups for a cocktail reception,” says Christie. Its stone walls provide a striking contrast to the impressive glass doors that look out onto the property and provide amazing views.

Within the Manor House, Poplar Springs has a variety of spaces that include: the Sutton Room for up to 10 people; the Randolph

“Anybody who books with us Monday through Thursday is virtually assured of that exclusivity,” adds Christie. “While they are here, we take care of everything, including all food and beverage, and we help with the planning.”

“Most people rely on the privacy and enjoy that we are open just for them while they are here,” she continues. “Because of that exclusivity, we can be very flexible – they can break when then want to break, eat whenever they choose to eat, do whatever they want to do on whatever schedule they choose to follow... We work to help them achieve their goals in a wide range of ways.”

Even when it comes to off-site functions, Poplar Springs Inn and Spa’s staff can assist planners in crafting their perfect event, too.

Located just 10 minutes from Warrenton’s Main Street, Poplar Springs is close to the Great Meadow field events center and steeplechase course, which is home to the Virginia Gold Cup races and twilight polo activities.

“The Casanova Hunt is huge here, as well,” says Christie. The Casanova Hunt has been part of Virginia’s sporting tradition for over 100 years. Its organized mounted foxhunting has much cross-over interest for participants in areas such as thoroughbred breeding, racing, horse shows, trail rides and related cross coun- try events.

“We can set up an off-site dinner for them if they would like that, or put together a wine tour,” notes Christie. “We also can bring outside services onto our property for them – we are happy to help arrange anything they want for their function and wll help them incorporate it into their experience.”

The Poplar Springs Inn and Spa offers a truly inspired small meet- ing and event group experience in northern Virginia. With flexibility, an expert staff and exclusivity of space and services, the property has everything a planner wants in a small meeting destination.
