The Museum of the American Revolution takes its place in Historic Philadelphia

The brand new $150 million, 118,000-square foot Museum of the American Revolution will soon take its place among some of the most storied and historic sites in the U.S.

On April 19, 2017, this modern structure situated at the corner of Third and Chestnut Streets is a state-of-the-art building designed by the international- ly recognized firm of Robert A.M. Stern Architects in a style that both reflects and honors the rich history of the surrounding historic neighbor-

hood, which includes such sites as Carpenters’ Hall, the First Bank of the United States, Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell.

An outdoor plaza is paved in native Pennsylvania bluestone and brick and

includes generous seating shaded by Valley Forge elm trees, one of which has been designated as "America's Liberty Tree," enriched with soil from Revolutionary sites around the country. Dramatically lit at night, the plaza will be accessible before, during and after the museum's operating hours for visitors and passersby to rest, reflect or snap a unique photo to share on social media.

And that’s just on the outside.
