Charity Choir Concerts for AECC
The Orihuela Costa Male Voice Choir was formed in 2012, and consists of up to 30 men from the Orihuela Costa area of the Costa Blanca. The choir is conducted and trained by professional singer and vocal tutor, Nigel Hopkins, and performs several times each year raising much-needed funds for different charities on the
coast. Nigel’s background with Male Voice Choirs is well-known in the UK where he conducted the championship Male Voice Choir, the Coventry Phoenix Male Voice Choir, who won competitions and championships in Wales, France and England and sung many World Premieres of works specially written for his choir by eminent composers. The programme for the Alfaz concert will be very varied, and incorporate such songs as Some Enchanted Evening, The Rose, Can’t Help Falling In Love, the famous Hippopotamus Song and Speed Your Journey. There will be the customary Welsh hymn tunes, and even an inspirational song sung in the Zulu language, as well as some in Italian. Conductor Nigel Hopkins - a tenor of great repute both in the UK and in Spain - will perform with his choir. Firm favourite, the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and a great rendition of Nessun Dorma will complete the programme. Guest soloist with the choir will be the soprano, Alyson Horsfall, whose amazing voice will be heard soaring above the men in songs like, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ amongst others. All in all the concert will be a fun affair with a plethora of good, well-performed music ... and a great entertainment for ALL the family.
