ABU ROBOCON 2016 - Final set in Bangkok


T


he ABU Robot Contest has a constant audience and is attracting more and more participants and fans year after year.


The theme of the 15th ABU Robocon 2016 Bangkok is “Clean Energy Recharging the World” and it is reserved for undergraduate students of university, college or polytechnic in the Asia-Pacific region. This year the contest will be held on 21 August and will be hosted by MCOT-Thailand.


Many participating member countries have already completed their domestic contests and their teams have been selected. For example, VTV-Vietnam, held a final domestic contest in Ninh Binh with 32 teams participating which Lac Hong University won. In total, 79 teams entered the preliminaries for the Vietnam contest. In Indonesia, TVRI organised four regional contests, in Central Java, West Java, East Java and Riau with 79 teams in total. In the end, the Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya won the ticket to Bangkok. Over 120 teams are registered to take part in the Chinese domestic contest which will be held at the end of June.

he Pacific Media Partnership Conference 2016 will be held from 24-27 August 2016 in Port


Moresby, Papua New Guinea.


The conference will be hosted by EM TV and will focus on how broadcasters could protect public free-to-air broadcasting. Some of the key requirements have been identified to lead the discussions and deliberations. Those requirements are to ensure the desired availability and technical quality of public service media services across various distribution platforms and on ubiquitous devices. Workshops and conferences also aim to discuss both technical and non-technical (regulatory, market, business, etc.) strategies to protect Public Service Media-PSM delivery as free-to-air broadcasting.
