generously agreed to give some insights on the CARE6 Project.

Participating in the documentary co- production of the CARE series always serves as a challenge for us. Established in late 2011, FBC TV is relatively new as a broadcaster in the Asia-Pacific region. Nevertheless, we have high ambitions to inform, educate and entertain the people of Fiji and also within the wider region. While in the beginning FBC TV used to import a lot of shows from overseas, we are now developing a wider range of local shows, ranging from talk shows, to music programs, a fitness show, a tech show, our very own kids show, and different programs in local languages. Documentaries are part of our programming schedule once a week but we usually do not produce these ourselves. Instead, we show some of our partner network’s NHK and KBS educational documentaries, which they willingly share with us.

Therefore, taking part in this documentary co-production is a great opportunity for us to develop our capacity and lift the standard of documentaries in Fiji to an international level. Part of the condition of this meeting was that every producer needed to bring a draft edit of their documentary which was to be

discussed and deliberated upon by the Executive Producer. This was our first challenge, yet we managed to meet this condition, despite our usual busy schedule.

This year’s topic of choice is “Do we believe in Love?” which emphasises the need to look deep inside our own paradigms and beliefs at the very roots of what makes our lives happy and healthy. Love is the key, love is the core; it is the essence of all life. In a world that is full of crisis and depreciation of the values of humanity, love is a key component of society that we should not neglect.

Again, I really would like to thank the ABU and its partners for giving us the opportunity to be part of this project, and also supporting us in so many ways. After making so many new friends and also contacts for future projects across the Asia- Pacific region, I feel truly enriched and empowered to take my own production to a new level. And YES! WE believe in LOVE!
