Important update on hats for cross country You may be aware of a recent issue regarding the PROtector Cool XCountry Helmet (see below). These hats have a small protuberance on the front, however they are manufactured to SNEL E2001 and PAS015 2011.
BRC will follow British Eventing’s lead and so continue to accept these hats for cross country use. A rule amend will be added to the BRC rule book with immediate effect.
2016 Rule Updates
The Intermediate Show Jumping maximum height in first round will be reduced from 95cm to 90cm, with each round being raised by a maximum of 5cms. This will come into effect on 1 October 2016 ready for the 2017 qualifiers. This competition will now also be open to individuals at prelim level and there will be an individual competition at the Championship. The Open Medium Winter Dressage will change on 1 October to a Pick a Test Winter Dressage, which will be a mixed class for senior and junior individuals competing at Medium or Advanced Medium. The tests will be Medium 71 (2002) or Advanced Medium 90 (2012). For full rule amendments please see the BRC Rules Page of the website or contact the BRC office on 02476 840 518. For fence judges there is a full briefing so you will know what you have to do and you do not need to have done it before. You can bring a friend with you as well so you are not on your own or with someone you do not know. It’s a great way to see what BRC do when we are away at one of our Championships and also a great way to show support to the equestrian community. Regular competitor, Rebecca McColl from Brampton was awarded Reserve with her Plaited Coloured Youngster, Hopgarden Xanadu. Ridden Classes started promptly at midday overseen by experienced Judge Cath Heaney who was pleased with the standard of entry across the board, and with Plaited mini ponies in particular. Cath found her Champion in the Open Mountain and Moorland Winner, Balmoral Merlin, a Highland gelding bred by the Queen, and now owned by Lynda Crayston from Ulversto. Merlin won both Open Classes on the way to his tricolour at the end of the Day. Reserve to Merlin was Lead Rein Mountain & Moorland rider, Phoebe Ward from Stockton On Tees riding her mother’s Wind Of Time who, a previous rescue pony, is now enjoying his time in the show ring.
