Reserve Champion of Champions, judged in the main ring following the Grand Parade, was awarded to the Agricultural Horse Champion Bencannon Duchess, a 5-year-old Clydesdale mare shown by Darren Willey, helped by his daughter Katie Willey

Masquerade success at Northumberland County

Clive Storey and his 9-year-old Masquerade definitely had a ball at Northumberland County where they stood Light Horse Champions after a busy and very prolific day. Following their open working hunter win, Masquerade collected the Working Hunter Championship, with Reserve going to the second placed open combination of Alice Lumley and her Badminton Grassroots BE100 winner Foxwood Brown Sugar. Earlier in the day Clive had ridden the Irish gelding to win the heavyweight ridden hunter class, going on to stand Reserve behind the winning lightweight Gilly McCowan and Tredragon.

Clive completed his tally with a second place in the CHAPS Non- Native Ridden qualifier behind Kimberley Hinds and Volatile Diva who went on to collect the CHAPS Reserve Championship. “He’s a bit of a folly”, said Clive with a smile. “When I gave up race riding, I bought him out of Ireland as a 3-year-old. He does showing, coloureds and workers; the fact that he’s turned out how he has is a bonus!” Clive now plans to contest the Royal Highland and The Scottish Horse Show.

The Reserve Champion Light Horse was awarded to Show Pony Champions Martha Jobling-
