the equine bursary
12 million whips
Edward Goddard is the oldest surviving whip manufacturer in the UK. Established in 1887, the company has sold over 12 million whips, with approximately 60% exported around the world. The hallmark remains quality, reliability and value for money and the extensive range includes whips for hunting, dressage and schooling, show cane, leather crops and lunge whips. The dazzling new Xquisit whip range features two different handle designs -coloured crystals or glitter thread with both options are embedded in the soft velvet handle. A ring of diamante’s around the whip collar and on the cap adds that little extra sparkle to catch the eye. The whip is available in two lengths (crop & schooling). There are five colours to choose from in each design: Gold, Silver, Pink, Purple & Blue.

Catch up with the latest from the Clarksons
Time seems to move on far too quickly these days and here we are in June already with more events completed and more yearly milestones passed at home. So as we go into summer, we have swallows and two cuckoos, the birds that is, although sometimes I do wonder about more ‘cuckoos’...
There’s nothing better sometimes than a lovely long hack out for our horses. Whenever they’ve competed at an event, we give them a couple of days off to allow them to readjust back to their routine at home and give their body a chance to begin to repair itself of any unseen damage. It also allows them to be a horse out in the field, to stretch off and get rid of lactic acid naturally. This is always followed by their first work day being a hacking day to ease them back into the ridden world again. We are very lucky here to have great off road space as well as quiet roads. Recently the tracks through Threepwood have been a pleasure to use, with the sun shining through young green foliage and a carpet of bluebells too; what more could anyone wish for on a sunny spring day. Even though it’s summer though, both us and the horses wear hi-viz gear; it’s a must.
