Thrilling anticipation of the Trailblazers National Championships


Horses and ponies from across the country will descend upon Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire at the end of July for the much anticipated 2016 SEIB Trailblazers Championships. The senior and junior Dodson &


Horrell Dressage Championships will be on 29 – 31 July, the Equestrivan Showing and Working Hunter Championships on 30 – 31 July, the senior and junior Countrywide Show Jumping Championships on

3 – 6 August and Solution Saddles Combined Training Championships on 4 – 5 August. The Championships are a 7-day equestrian extravaganza with on-site camping, stabling, flags and flowers, providing riders at grassroots level with the opportunity to experience a Championship atmosphere, the thrill of riding in the grand arenas and the prospect of completing a lap of honour in magnificent style.


As well as the all-important championship classes, the event also offers optional dressage and show jumping warm up days, giving competitors at the Championships more classes and the opportunity to get used to the atmosphere.


The popular Master Class in the Park, supported by Equestrivan, will be taking place again at this year’s finals with two talented top international riders who are set to wow the crowds with their informative demonstrations. On Friday 29 July at 7pm, one of the leading event and dressage riders in the country Ruth Edge will be hosting a dressage master class. Ruth holds six national dressage titles, which she has achieved alongside her eventing successes.


Winner of the Hickstead Derby and top international rider Trevor Breen will be sharing his techniques in his show jumping master class, at 7pm on Thursday 4 August. The Master Class in the Park will be free to watch for those onsite, so come along, sit back and enjoy the opportunity of watching Ruth and Trevor share their knowledge with you. supporters and spectators at the SEIB Trailblazers Championships and everyone is welcome to come along and see what Trailblazers is all about. Many of the riders competing will have overcome challenges, either themselves or with their horse or pony, and getting to the championships is a huge achievement. Riders are encouraged to enjoy the experience and do their best.


Tilly overcame illness


to take up dressage Tamara Hill from Stafford has qualified for the Senior Preliminary Dressage Championship final and the 65cm Show Jumping Championship finals with her 13-year-old Haflinger mare, Tilly and will be competing at the Championships for the first time. Tamara bought Tilly 9 years ago and she is her pride and joy.


“I


bought her just to hack but she has turned into so much more”, explains Tamara. They have since competed in all disciplines but then Tilly caught Lawsonia disease, a severe infection of the intestine, and was rushed to Leahurst Veterinary Practice in Liverpool, as Tamara explains: “I was told to prepare for the worst and I was devastated. She was my first pony and we had built up such a bond”. Tilly’s condition was further complicated when vets also discovered gastric and epiglottis ulcers. “I was shocked”, admitted Tamara, continuing; “She had never ever shown signs of being in pain or discomfort but the ulcers disappeared quickly after treatment.” Tilly was Liverpool’s first ever case of this rare
