those who own their own company or are senior executives in one, the landscape is forever changing. We are faced with new drugs, technology, legislation and, on top of this, global issues such as oil prices and an ever changing economy. One thing is for sure: change is one of the
constant challenges we have to deal with in business and if we don’t change quickly and effectively enough, we will be leſt behind. Te importance of innovation in our industry is crucial to its development and survival. Our industry is so important and we owe it to our communities to continue to challenge the status quo. Te following sums up the importance of our industry:

Tere are three words that are important
to the International Commitee and will improve your business: strategy, networking and the term “international.” Now most of us know what these all
mean, but how many of you truly think about their significance in day-to-day business and, in particular, their relationship to our industry? So, lets have a look at each of these words and what they mean.
Strategy—a high level plan to achieve one or more goals under conditions of uncertainty Now we all know in business the

business plans are only good if you have a strategy to execute your plan, enabling you to achieve your goals. If you can’t execute the plan through a well thoughtout strategy, you might as well rip it up and or file it to collect dust.
Networking—business activity by which groups of like-minded business people recognize, create, or act upon business opportunities How many of you turned up to the
recent DATIA conference or any business event for that mater and didn’t talk to new people? Again I have found that just talking to people creates opportunities, whether it is strategic relationships or new customers. Networking is one of the biggest ways to increase your business.
International—involving more than a single country, the term “international” as a word means involvement of, interaction between or encompassing more than one nation, or generally beyond national boundaries. Remember we are living in a new age;
everything is available at an incredible, action-packed pace. No longer are we restricted to what goes on in our own backyard, but now we have to compete in a
