KEEP IT LOCAL
The Dartmouth KEEP IT LOCAL Show The Guildhall, Victoria Road. Friday 29th
Saturday 30th
The Dartmouth ‘Keep It Local’ campaign, instigated by the Dartmouth BID, is to be launched shortly. It aims to encourage residents and businesses to use local shops and services via a new town Loyalty Card that provides discounts and free gifts on many products and services throughout the town.
The purpose of this campaign is to keep money in the local economy and help local businesses survive and prosper. Research shows that every £1 spent with a local supplier keeps £1.76 in the local economy. (New Economics Foundation).
This ‘Town Team’ project will be launched at the Guildhall on Friday 29th day on Saturday 30th
May (4pm - 6pm) and all May (10am - 5pm), enabling
Dartmouthians to collect their loyalty cards, meet participating businesses and get involved.
The show includes an art exhibition by the students of Dartmouth Academy in the Clifton Room and, in the ballroom, face painting for the kids and stands from silk weaving to videography.
If you are a local business and would like to participate, please contact BID Manager, Ali Steere, on 07415 828456 or email contact@dartmouthbid.
co.uk.
Residents will be able to pick up their Loyalty Card at the Dartmouth Keep It Local show, from the Tourist Information Centre and from participating shops and businesses.
May 4pm - 6pm and May 10am - 5pm
Here’s why we should KEEP IT LOCAL in Dartmouth:
● Local independent shops and businesses invest more in our community by supporting more local charities, schools and community events and employing more local people.
● Independent shops create distinctive shopping experiences for tourists and residents – if we don’t use them, Dartmouth will lose its vitality and business will go elsewhere.
● It’s better for the environment as local shops stock locally sourced goods which do not require long distance transportation etc. helping to reduce our global footprint.
● Keep it local and create jobs. Shops in our town create local employment and self- employment. These people in turn spend in the local community.
● Keeping it local saves local services because private and public sector services tend to cluster around shops. If our shops disappear so will our banks and restaurants etc.
