Regattas & Festivals summer 2015

South Devon has many festivals, events and regattas over the summer months such that there is always plenty to do whether you’re a visitor or resident. Highlights of this year’s events include:

WAYS WITH WORDS 3 RD – 13TH JULY A vibrant and joyful 10-day event, a chance for those who read books to meet those who write them. The setting is glorious, the atmo- sphere is invigorating. People come together in spectacular surroundings to share the pleasure and power of language and ideas. The programme for the 2015 festival will be available in early May 2015 – visit www.wayswithwords.co.uk

CLASSIC CHANNEL REGATTA 11 TH – 18TH JULY The Regatta is a very special event with a unique blend of racing, passage making and, of course, great boats and people. The regatta is a joint Anglo-Breton enterprise and has its own informal and relaxed ambiance with boats coming from the UK, France and other European countries. The regatta is biennial and runs for a week in July. It starts with two days of racing at Dartmouth followed by the Classic Channel Race to Paimpol; a passage race takes the fleet to Guernsey where the regatta finishes with the Round Sark Classic Race – all backed up with a programme of informal social events ashore. The yachts provide a wonderful spectacle whilst racing out in Start Bay or moored in the river.

KINGSBRIDGE FAIR WEEK 18TH – 25TH JULY A week of events. With live music, fireworks and different events for all ages. With a parade at the end of the week. Visit www.kingsbridgefairweek.co.uk for the full programme of events.
