ROYAL OPERA HOUSE LIVE – LA FILLE MAI GARDEE Tues 5th


Frederick ashton’s final full-length ballet is one of his most joyous creations, inspired by his love for the suffolk countryside. It is based on an 1828 French ballet and the music was adapted by John Lanchbery from Ferdinand Hérold’s original score. La Fille mal gardée was a resounding success on its premiere in 1960 and has remained a firm favourite in The Royal Ballet’s repertory.

BENEATH THE WAVES – ARCHAEOLOGICAL DIVERS - SWORDS TO MISSILES

Presented by Dartmouth Branch of the Royal Naval Association. Commander Rob Dunn OBE Rn and the south West maritime archaeological Group present two audio-visual talks of their underwater adventures and experiences. Rob followed his grandfather’s footsteps to become a submariner joined the Royal navy in 1984. after serving in a variety of ships he qualified on the submarine ‘Perisher’ course known as the toughest command course in the world. awarded the OBe for his operational work and is the present Commander of the BRnC. Twenty years ago a team of divers made an extraordinary discovery off salcombe, made even more extraordinary by the events and discoveries that followed in later years. The same team although a little older in years are still diving upon these wreck sites making more discoveries. Speaker Ron Howell started his diving interests whilst serving in the Royal Navy back in the 1950’s. he will bring the audience up to date with the impact the team’s discoveries have made in changing the history of europe in the Bronze age. Flavel fundraiser, 10% of proceeds donated to Rowcroft.
