The beautiful1895 gaff-rigged Pilgrim is the oldest existing Brixham built and rigged sailing trawler, now lovingly restored to her former Victorian glory and taking passengers. Cruises offer a fantastic opportunity for experienced sailors keen to take the helm and haul the sails, under supervision of the skipper. 24 Britannia Royal Naval College guided tours
Public tours of Dartmouth’s prestigious college take place on Monday afternoons and Wednesdays during the high season. Tours cover its history and role within the Royal Navy, training its naval officers. Visitors are picked up in Dartmouth and taken by coach to the college for the two-hour tour.
Because the college is a working military establishment photographic identification is required for access and cancellations can sometimes occur. Sir Francis Drake’s Golden Hind at Brixham is a full- sized replica of one of the most iconic ships and a fantastic experience onboard with its Tudor displays and big open decks. It’s been a feature of Brixham Harbour for more than fifty years and has recently changed ownership and acquired a new resident called Sid the skeleton.
