APPOINTMENTS
Prof Donald Cairns The Cabinet Secretary for Health
and Wellbeing has announced the reappointment of Dr Robin Reid to Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board. Dr Reid has over 30 years of experience as a doctor in the NHS in Scotland. He has experience in medical management as an Associate Medical Director and in postgraduate medical education as an Associate Postgraduate Dean. He spent 13 years as a senior lecturer at the University of Glasgow and is currently President of the Association of Clinical Pathologists. Dr Reid brings to the board his vast experience working within the NHS.
Dr Virginia Acha Dr Virginia (Ginny) Acha has been
appointed as the ABPI’s new Executive Director - Research Medical and Innovation (RM&I). Dr Acha will take up the position at the beginning of March and report directly to ABPI Chief Executive Stephen Whitehead. Dr Acha currently works for Amgen as Director, Global Regulatory and R&D Policy – Europe, Middle East and Africa. She holds the chair for the Pharmacovigilance working group in the IFPMA Bio therapeutics Committee, and is the Vice-Chair for the European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises (EBE) Biosimilars Task Force and the lead for the EFPIA Regulatory Network supporting Turkey.
Ghazala Zia Pharma Nord UK have announced
the appointment of Ghazala Zia as the new Area Sales Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Ghaz has established great experience in the of field nutrition which she has built up over a number of years beginning in the health food industry in 1997. Most recently, Ghaz has been working as a Retail Manager for Jan de Vries healthcare stores. Ghaz will be visiting stores across Northern Ireland. Moira Adams
Moira Adams has been appointed as a new Member to NHS Fife. Moira was elected to the Board of NHS Fife in 2010 where she served for three and a half years as a non-executive member. She comes back to the Board with the wealth of experience gained in that time, with a good working knowledge of Board policy and procedures and a firm grasp of the skills required to scrutinise Board papers. In addition, she has lived in Fife for 38 years and, as the most senior member of three generations living in Fife, she brings an understanding of the services required for many of Fife’s communities’ health needs.

Melanie Newdick Miss Melanie Newdick has been
appointed as a new Member to NHS Highland. Miss Newdick brings to the board lots of experience of the NHS from the perspective of being both a patient and being a carer. She also brings to the board experience of project management and facilitation.
Prof Stephen Logan The Cabinet Secretary for Health,
Wellbeing and Sport, Shona Robison has announced that University of Aberdeen Senior Vice Principal, Professor Stephen Logan, is to be the new Chair of NHS Grampian. Professor Logan will take up the post after he retires from his current role as Senior Vice-Principal of the University of Aberdeen at the end of January 2015. Professor Logan has previously held the role of Chairman of Grampian University Hospital NHS Trust and was a board member of NHS Grampian.
