Celebrating innovation and change
The competition this year has been fierce, with a record number of entries received, but after several weeks of judging we now have our finalists for the Scottish Pharmacist Awards.
Our offices have been inundated with an exceedingly high quantity of entries this year and our eminent panel of judges faced very difficult task in identifying the winners for some of the categories, such has been the quality of the entries.
We will all be on the edge of our seats to see who is called up to the stage by Grant Stott on March 7th at the gala dinner in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
However it is important to highlight that it is not just about winners and losers. Everyone who entered this year’s awards deserves commendation.
The Scottish Pharmacist Awards are now in their eighth year and have evolved and been developed over a period of time with feedback from the industry, judges and an independent advisory board.
The Awards celebrate ongoing dedication, commitment and innovation, the cornerstones of pharmacy. As the profession goes through a time of unprecedented change, it is important to recognise those who are leading the way.
Through these Awards we salute those individuals or team that share a passion for embracing current challenges with rigour and curiosity to create solutions for industry, the profession or the community.
The judges have been looking for those that have demonstrated innovative practice, significant improvements, service developments and excellence in patient care.
To be shortlisted for one of these 10 Award categories is a true accolade and testament to the hard work pharmacists and their teams have put into their pharmacy.
The Scottish Pharmacist Awards will once again be raising money for a worthwhile charity and this year it will be Children with Cancer and Leukaemia, Advice and Support for Parents (CCLASP) - an Edinburgh based children's charity, set up in 1994 to help support children and groups of families, to express and share the feelings, anxieties and the horror of having a child with a life threatening illness.
Over the following pages we feature the finalists within each Award category. Look out for the next issue of Scottish Pharmacist for full coverage of this prestigious event including the esteemed guests and, most importantly, the winners.
We would like to thank all the entrants, our judges and offer a special congratulations to those shortlisted for 2015, we look forward to welcoming you all to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Saturday, March 7th.
“This was an innovative team solution to ensure continuity of service delivery to patients. To make this work effectively requires strong levels of planning and organising and a system of good communication to make it work.”
