Pre-registration student of the Year
FIONA WILSON Lindsay and Gilmour (Nuchem), Edinburgh
Fiona Wilson has worked for Lindsay and Gilmour for nearly two years, having originally started out in their Pharmacy Student Summer Placement Programme in 2013 at the Bonnybridge Toll branch. Fiona quickly impressed senior management with her knowledge, enthusiasm, hard work and dedication and she was added to the company’s preference list for the NES Pre-Registration Pharmacist Scheme. There are a number of roles in which Fiona has demonstrated a commitment and enthusiasm which go above and beyond to ensure that the pharmacy she works in offers the highest level of service to its patients and customers such as the COPD service, health promotion within the community and in education and training. “Fiona has demonstrated that she is an excellent Pre-Registration student and will undoubtedly go on to also make an excellent pharmacist when she qualifies,” says one nominee.

Joanne is the Carers’ Champion for which she has undergone extra training, meetings with community workers and has spoken at a carers gathering about how community pharmacy can help. Health promotion has also been a key contribution by Joanne.
JADE ROBERTSON
Davidsons Chemist, Forfar Jade started with Davidsons Chemist in Forfar as a pre-registration pharmacist at the end of July 2014 having graduated with a Master of Pharmacy with Distinction from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen earlier that month. She is described as bursting with enthusiasm and dedication for her job and is always keen to learn new things and is motivated to put these new skills into practice and teach others. She has built up a good relationship with the three local GP surgeries contacting them to suggest alternatives for many out of stock issues and suggesting changes to medication due to new MHRA updates. One of Jade’s most admirable attribute is her desire to learn and she is always trying to share her new knowledge. Furthermore, her clinical knowledge is described to be ‘above what is expected’ of a pre-registration pharmacist.
