outstanding Contribution to pharmaCy

The Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Award showcases and celebrates achievement among the community pharmacy sector in Scotland. As well as highlighting the ever increasing contribution pharmacists to the wider healthcare arena, this Award is aimed at identifying appropriate role models to inspire and motivate others.

In launching this category we were looking to find, and recognise, an individual who has had a sustained career, which has not only had a very significant contribution to the pharmacy sector, but also has been an inspiration to peers. Judges wanted to see evidence of someone with a level of dedication that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

The winner will be a figure who has had most impact on the pharmacy profession and is likely to have impacted on the working lives of most pharmacists over the course of the year, having shown evidence of leadership, determination and clarity of thought.

The recipient of this prestigious Award will be announced on the night.

Winner of this Award in 2014 was the late Jim Bannerman, OBE. A spokesperson for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society commented at the time, “Community Pharmacy Scotland are to be congratulated for presenting their Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Award to Jim Bannerman, in recognition of his significant contribution to the profession throughout his long and distinguished career.

“As a strong advocate for the profession, particularly as a council member and Past President of the Society, he has provided inspirational leadership and direction to a substantial cohort of pharmacists.”
