Local, regional and nationally known chefs will be at the festival, some in restaurants, some at our events in the Flavel and some here on the festival stage. Come early if you want the best seats to get tastings of all the goodies they cook.

We love a competition at the Food Festival and we have some to watch and some to take part in; so if you fancy your chances or just want to cheerlead look out for:
• The Food Festival Quiz.7pm 22nd October at Café Alf Resco. £120 for a table of 6 including one of Alf’s famous rustic suppers. Howard Quartly is this year’s quiz master. SOLD OUT.
• The Rotary Young Chef. Students from Dartmouth Academy battle it out on Thursday 23rd. Come to Royal Avenue Gardens to see the judging at 5pm.
• The RGC Omelette Olympics is back. We’re after the fastest omelette maker in the west; well, Dartmouth anyway. Fabulous organic eggs from Fountain Violet Farm, Kingswear. Daily in Royal Avenue Gardens.
• Signature Dish also returns - our free-to-enter competition. Are you Dartmouth’s jam champion, prince of pasties or queen of cakes? Bring your offerings to be judged and make the title rightfully yours. Prizes supplied by Signature of Dartmouth. Daily in Avenue Gardens, more details on the website.
• Instagram Photo Competition – This year we want you to feast your eyes on everything fun, foodie & fab each day of the festival and post your photo to Instagram, tag #DFFfeastyoureyes & you can win an exclusive Food Festival prize. • Bread of Life. Bring your best homemade loaf to enter the Flavel Church’s breadmaking competition. Loaves to be submitted on Saturday 25 October between 10 &11 am at the Flavel church. If you can’t make a loaf you can take part in the judging – tasting and judging between 12 and 4pm. Entry forms available in advance by emailing
