• Sunday 5th October, Concert in the Cathedral. The Arts Guild is delighted to welcome Oxford Lieder Young Artists Alessandro Fisher – tenor, and Ricardo Gosalbo – piano, to perform songs ranging from Schubert to Flanders & Swann. • Sunday October 12th, Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera. Being an Emerging Artist Soprano Rosalind Coad is a current member of Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artist programme, which gives young artists a period of full-time work with the Company to help them launch their careers. Hear her in conversation with Anne Higgins. All very welcome. 2.30 pm, Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling. Members £5, Visitors £6, Students £1.


• Monday 13th October, Dunblane Cathedral Guild will meet on at 2.00pm, in the Cathedral hall. Our fi rst speaker in the new session will be Dr. Pam Cairns who has been involved with The Vine Trust. She and her husband led the fi rst team of U.K. medical volunteers on the Amazon Hope, the ship which sailed up the Amazon to take medical and dental help to Peru.

Thursday 16th October , Bookworms’ Bonanza Night! at the Rural Hall, North Lea, Doune. Perthshire based author Linda Cracknell (Call of the Undertow, & Doubling Back) and Elizabeth Reeder (Ramshackle) plus publisher Adrian Searle from Glasgow- based Freight Books & Gutter magazine, will read some of their work and chat with the audience.
