19 July to 3 August with a colourful mix of entertainment and culture in city venues and parks. Te key festival venues, the Glasgow

Green live site, Merchant City Festival, the Kelvingrove Bandstand and BBC at the Quay will aim to have something for everyone. People can join with the crowd in enjoying

watching the opening and closing ceremonies and the biggest sporting events on giant screens at the venues. Tere will also be opportunities to catch

a world premiere performance, take part in a ceilidh or have a go themselves at arts and sports venues. Te action does not just happen at the

main venues – creative events will be popping up all over the city, including everything from children’s activities, drama, dance and visual art. Glasgow’s main cultural venues will stage new work commissioned for Festival 2014

with the Tramway, the Gallery of Modern Art, CCA, Teatre Royal, the Tron Teatre, the Briggait and the Arches among the venues hosting work. Te new work will include a broad range

of performances and exhibitions, including poetry, comedy, opera, film, workshops and creative play and storytelling. A groundbreaking survey of 25 years

of contemporary art in Scotland is to be presented in galleries across Glasgow, and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall will host a classical music marathon featuring the best of Scotland’s orchestras and music ensembles.
